Gingersnaps
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup molasses
1 egg
2 1/4 cups flour
2 teaspoons soda
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Cream together first 4 ingredients till fluffy. Sift together dry ingredients; stir into molasses mixture. Form in small balls. Roll in granulated sugar; place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake in moderate oven (375 degrees) about 10 minutes. Cool slightly; remove form pan. Makes about 5 dozen.
