Cinnamon Swirl Bread
1 1/2 cups sugar, divided
1 tablespoon cinnamon
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk
1 egg
1/4 cup vegetable oil
Combine cinnamon and 1\2 cup sugar. Set aside. Combine flour, soda, salt and remaining sugar, Combine buttermilk, egg, and oil. Stir into dry ingredients just until just combined. Grease bottom of 9x5 loaf pan. Pour 1\2 of batter into pan sprinkle with 1/2 of cinnamon mixture, Carefully spread remaining batter and sprinkle with remaining cinnamon mixture. Stir knife through batter. Bake at 350 degrees for about 40-45 minutes. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Combine glaze and drizzle over bread. GLAZE: 1/4 cup powdered sugar, 1 1/2-2 tsp. milk.
Note: Works best with real buttermilk. Not powdered or sour milk. I have never put the glaze on it.
